Howells out, Davies a doubt for Ospreys

The Ospreys are monitoring the fitness of Sam Davies ahead of taking on Munster, with the fly-half undergoing the return to play protocols.

Medical Performance Manager, Chris Towers, confirmed the news after the classy playmaker left the field last Friday following a blow to the head.

Meanwhile, young wing Dafydd Howells is unlikely to feature again this season after damaging ankle ligaments in last month’s fixture against Glasgow.

The teenager was forced off in the opening minutes of the defeat at Scotstoun, his first ever PRO12 start, and scans have revealed the extent of the damage.

"It is quite substantial ligament damage, but the good news is that he doesn't require surgery. However, the best case scenario is that he is looking at a 10-12 week rehabilitation period," said Towers.
