Where to watch the Champions Cup final

You can add Premier Sports to your Amazon subscription for £15.99. The monthly pass gives you access to all rugby shown on the channel and full match coverage for the Champions Cup.

There is a second way to watch the final completely free. Welsh channel S4C is streaming the game free for UK viewers on television and online via S4C Clic and by searching for S4C on BBC iPlayer, as well as on S4C Chwaraeon’s YouTube channel.

The final will be held at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium for the sixth time, taking it equal to Twickenham as host of the competition.

Northampton progressed through a group comprising Castres Olympique, Munster and Vodacom Bulls. They beat ASM Clermont Auvergne, Castres Olympique and a stunning win over Leinster in the semi-final to secure their final berth.

Opponents Bordeaux defeated Ulster, Munster and Stade Toulousain to book their final spot.

Bordeaux will be competing for their first Champions Cup title, while Northampton Saints won their only title in 2000 when they defeated Munster 9-8 at Twickenham.

A Bordeaux win would mean French clubs have taken the past five wins in the tournament after two wins apiece for Toulouse and La Rochelle in the past four finals.

Northampton will be without Curtis Langdon, James Ramm and Alex Coles all suffered injuries in Saints’ win over Saracens at the weekend and will miss the final, while Juarno Augustus is not expected to be fit in time for the game.

Bordeaux will be able to welcome back Damian Penaud, who has scored 21 tries and amassed 105 points. He will be the French side’s key player when they line up in Cardiff.
