‘He’d be a great signing’ – Racing 92 boss hints that Owen Farrell deal is on the cards

Racing 92 director of rugby Stuart Lancaster has given an update on the proposed signing of England and Saracens fly-half Owen Farrell in an interesting interview.
Speaking ahead of his side’s game against Bath at the Recreation Ground, the former England and Leinster coach gave the clearest indication yet that a deal could be near.
The interview was conducted by TNT Sports presenter Sarra Elgan Easterby, who posed the question to Lancaster over whether the signing of the England star is on the cards.
Farrell speculation
“We’ll see. I can’t confirm or deny,” he said. “I certainly can’t say anything official has happened because Racing put a statement out, and that statement still stands.
“Racing are often linked with key players, and I’m lucky in that my relationships with players from England and Ireland are all part of it really. But, yeah, we’ll see.”
Lancaster went on to say: “There’s the business side of Racing, which is a big business, and the rugby side and I’m trying to keep my head on the rugby side to be honest.”
The question to Lancaster was then tweaked to ask if the Top 14 giants were talking to the Saracens star, with the Racing boss admitting they would be lucky to have him.
"I can't confirm or deny." 👀

“He’d be a great signing, wouldn’t he? Who wouldn’t want someone like Owen Farrell,” he said.
“There was links, I remember when I first arrived, with Beauden Barrett, who would have been quite nice. Marcus Smith was linked as well and Owen Farrell as well so we’ll see how it plays out.
“We’ve got Antoine Gibert playing today (against Bath), and he’s been excellent. He’s pushing for the France squad, and Tristan Tedder has been excellent as well.”
Four-year contract
He continued: “I’ll keep growing and developing them, and obviously, for me, it’s keeping an eye on the small picture like the next game and this season but also trying to develop the big picture.
“I’ve signed for four years, and hopefully, we can develop a squad that can make us competitive in Europe and in the Top 14.”
