Hammer blow! Springboks forced into last-minute change and a pack reshuffle for Australia
RG Snyman has withdrawn from the matchday 23 to face Australia.
Rassie Erasmus has made a late change to his matchday 23 with RG Snyman ruled out of the Rugby Championship clash against Australia in Brisbane.
South Africa are aiming to claim their first win at Suncorp Stadium since 2013 when they collide with Joe Schmidt’s charges today but will do so without the services of their powerhouse lock.
RG Snyman ruled out
Snyman has a foot niggle that has ruled him out of the Rugby Championship opener and he has been replaced in the starting XV by Ben-Jason Dixon.
Dixon’s inclusion causes a shuffle in the pack as he now starts in the number seven jumper with Pieter-Steph du Toit moving into the second-row to partner Eben Etzebeth. Salmaan Moerat is added to the matchday 23 filling the number 19 jersey.
Erasmus stated earlier in the week that Snyman may not feature in the clash due to the foot niggle he is carrying and while the head coach said that Ruan Nortje would come into the team if the double World Cup winner was not fit enough, that has not proved to be the case. The Springboks confirmed that Nortje also misses the clash due to injury.
