‘Gutted’ – Ellis Genge confirms he will miss England’s series with the All Blacks

England prop Ellis Genge looks on.
England vice-captain Ellis Genge has been ruled out of the side’s tour to New Zealand and Japan in the mid-year Test window after picking up an injury for Bristol Bears.
Genge injured his calf in Bristol’s final game in the Premiership that saw the side win but still fail to advance to the semi-finals.
Initially, it was hoped the damage to the star prop would not be too bad but unfortunately, he is expected to be on the sidelines for up to 10 weeks, according to the Times.
Silver lining
The loosehead took to X, formerly Twitter, to confirm the news and his feelings about missing such a big series.
“Every cloud… obviously gutted to be ruled out of summer tour but get a chance to spend some proper quality time with the family. Thanks for the well wishes,” he wrote

The Bristol man is not the only blow for England of late with the ever-impressive Ollie Chessum being ruled out of the tour earlier this week with a shoulder injury that will require surgery.
That leaves Borthwick with some choices to make before he heads to New Zealand in England’s first tour to the Land of the Long White Cloud since 2014 where the Red Rose were winless in three games.
Before the side makes their way to the All Blacks’ backyard, they will be travelling to Japan where they will face former boss Eddie Jones on June 22 before two Tests against New Zealand.
It is all to do for England who are looking to build on their third-place finish in the Six Nations earlier this year and perhaps injuries could force Borthwick to blood some new talent.
