Former All Blacks wing Zac Guildford has been linked with a return to Super Rugby with the Waratahs for 2016.
The 26-year-old recently returned to New Zealand after last appearing for Clermont in the Top 14.
Guildford, who has 11 Test caps, has been targeted by new head coach Daryl Gibson as the 2014 Super Rugby champions prepare for next season.
After seeking an early release from his contract in France in order to be closer to his family, Guildford has been turning out for Hawke's Bay back home, with Gibson subsequently getting in touch according to the Daily Telegraph in Australia.
The report adds that terms have been agreed by the two parties but Guildford is yet to sign his contract.
Despite a history of off-field issues with alcohol, including time in rehab, Guildford's connection with Gibson and his talent make him an attractive signing for the Waratahs as he takes the foreign marquee player spot in their squad vacated by Jacques Potgieter.
