George Skivington hails Gloucester’s signing of ‘terrific athlete’ from Harlequins

Gloucester have announced their latest signing for next season, bringing in the unheralded Will Trenholm from Harlequins.
The former World Series 7s player for England and Britain has spent the majority of the 2024/25 season loaned out to London Scottish in the Championship.
The back-rower, who made his Harlequins debut three years ago, broke into Danny Wilson’s Champions Cup squad last season, appearing off the bench in the knockout stage games against Glasgow and Bordeaux.
However, his Quins involvement this season has been limited to a couple of Premiership Cup runs, inactivity that opened the door for Gloucester to swoop and add him to the Kingsholm roster.
A club statement read: “Harlequins back row forward Will Trenholm will swap for The Stoop for The Shed for next season when he joins the Cherry & Whites this summer. The 24-year-old has been at the London club since the age of 13 and made the first of his 17 senior appearances against London Irish 2022.

“The former England U18s international has also spent time on loan in the RFU Championship with London Scottish. At 190cm and 112kg, Trenholm is described as a powerful and dynamic forward. In addition to his time at Quins, Trenholm has also played on the World Sevens Series, playing in five tournaments for England and two for Great Britain.”
“Energy and physical attributes will really suit style we’re playing…”
Speaking ahead of this Saturday’s Premiership trip to Harlequins, Gloucester boss George Skivington said: “Will is a terrific athlete, and that’s evident by the fact he’s played on the World Sevens circuit. We feel like his energy and physical attributes in particular will really suit the style we’re playing, and we’re looking forward to welcoming him here in the summer.”
Trenholm added: “Having been at Harlequins for so long, it’s a big change for me, but I’m looking forward to heading to Kingsholm this summer. Seeing what Gloucester are building and the exciting rugby they’re playing, I’m buzzing to be a part of it and can’t wait to get to work.
“Everyone knows about The Shed and the famous Kingsholm atmosphere, and it’ll be a privilege to get out there in front of them.”
