Ireland centre Garry Ringrose is set to return to full training for Leinster as they prepare for this week’s United Rugby Championship (URC) quarter-final with Ulster.

Ringrose has been out for a number of weeks due to a shoulder injury he sustained during the Six Nations and last played for Leinster against Leicester Tigers in January.

Leinster have utilised the likes of Robbie Henshaw, Jamie Osborne, Ciaran Frawley, Charlie Ngatai, Jimmy O’Brien, Lee Turner and Ben Brownlee at centre during that time.

Timely return

However, his timely comeback for the knockout stages of the URC is a welcome fillip for Leo Cullen as the province look to bounce back from their Champions Cup final loss.

An update three days after their impressive win over Connacht also provided positive news on Ngatai as he came through the game with no issues after his return from injury.

Leinster added that Ireland number eight Jack Conan was withdrawn as a precaution ahead of that match and will be further assessed this week ahead of the Ulster fixture.

There is bad news on wing Tommy O’Brien, however, as he picked up a hamstring injury in the 33-7 final round victory against Connacht and will enter a period of rehabilitation.

Munster news

Monday also saw Munster issue an injury update and the news on three senior players will concern their supporters ahead of their quarter-final against Ospreys on Friday.

Experienced centre Rory Scannell is set to undergo surgery next week after suffering an ankle injury against Ulster over the weekend, which rules him out for the play-offs.

There is also concerning news on versatile forward Tom Ahern who suffered an ankle/lower leg injury on Saturday and requires a scan. He is unavailable for the coming weeks.

Elsewhere, fly-half Joey Carbery, who impressed off the bench against Ulster over the weekend, suffered a thumb injury in that victory and will be unavailable this Friday.

However, there is good news regarding hooker Diarmuid Barron (foot), prop Josh Wycherley (face) and centre Antoine Frisch (leg/groin), who return to training this week.
