Five cited from Sharks-Chiefs scrap

Liam Messam, Tom Marshall, Hika Elliot, Frans Steyn and Bismarck du Plessis have all received various citings after Saturday's clash.

Du Plessis, Steyn and Elliot were all shown straight red cards during a low-scoring scrap in Durban.

Duty officer Adam Casselden delivered the following citings in a busy afternoon, who will review all of the incidents about from the one involving Marshall, who was given an official warning for a dangerous tackle but will not recieve further punishment.

Du Plessis is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (c) A player must not kick an opponent, in an incident that occurred in the 18th minute of the match.

Steyn is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (j) Lifting a player from the ground, in an incident that occurred in the 28th minute of the match – lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground whilst that player’s feet are still off the ground such that the player’s head and/or upper body come into contact with the ground is dangerous play.

A player must not charge into a ruck or maul. Charging includes any contact made without use of arms, or without grasping a player. Elliot is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (h) Dangerous Charging, in an incident that occurred in the 16th minute. 

Messam is alleged to have contravened 10.4 (e) Dangerous Tackling, in an incident which occurred in the 18th minute.
