Fenton-Wells banned for eye-gouging

Summer recruit Nick Fenton-Wells will miss Bristol's Aviva Premiership opener against Harlequins at Twickenham on September 3.

The 30-year-old back-row has been banned for four weeks for an offence which occurred last season. Fenton-Wells appeared in front of a discplinary hearing on Wednesday for making contact with another player's eye or eye area in Bedford's Championship clash with Doncaster in April.

While he will miss Bristol's opener, Fenton-Wells will be avaliable again for their second match against Northampton at Ashton Gate on September 11, reports the Bristol Post.

He is one of three back-row players to have joined Bristol this summer, along with Jon Fisher (Northampton) and Jordan Crane (Leicester).
