Faf de Klerk available for France Test

South Africa were boosted in Paris on Sunday when Faf de Klerk, Francois Louw, Vincent Koch, Cheslin Kolbe and Franco Mostert joined the squad for their second Test for of their year-end tour, against France at the Stade de France this weekend.

The five players, as well as Willie le Roux, were not considered for the Springboks’ match against England at Twickenham on Saturday, because the London Test was outside the official international window.

England edged South Africa by a single point, 12-11, in the tightly fought encounter witnessed by a crowd of 82,000.

Following the team’s drive through heavy traffic from Charles de Gaulle Airport, the Boks quickly settled into their hotel, enjoying late lunch, and set about to complete their post-match recovery.

The squad arrived at their hotel to a warm local reception, arranged by South African rugby supporters living in Paris.

The availability of the added players will the South African squad a boost for their clash against France.

Siya Kolisi and his team-mates will start their preparations on Monday, with field, gymnasium and analysis sessions scheduled until the end of the week. More will be known about Eben Etzebeth’s injury early in the week.

Rassie Erasmus, the SA Director of Rugby, is set announce the Springbok match 23 for the French Test on Thursday.

The Springboks’ end-of-year tour to the northern hemisphere also includes Tests against Scotland in Edinburgh and Wales in Cardiff.
