Bath have announced that England international back-row Sam Underhill has signed a new contract with the Premiership outfit until the end of the 2025/26 season.

The 27-year-old has renewed his contract at the West Country club and will stay on at The Rec until the summer of 2026.

Joined Bath in 2016/17 season

Underhill joined Bath from Welsh region the Ospreys during the 2016/17 campaign and his debut in the Premiership against Northampton Saints.

The openside flanker, who has already made 85 appearances in Blue, Black and White, has been a crucial member of Bath head of rugby Johann van Graan’s squad this season.

His prowess at the breakdown and turnover ability was rewarded when he was called up to England head coach Steve Borthwick’s Rugby World Cup squad in the autumn of 2023, and he went on to start all five of The Red Rose’s 2024 Six Nations matches.

Underhill is delighted to continue his stay at Bath.

“I’m really pleased to be staying here,” he said. “Bath feels like home and it’s an incredibly special place to play.

“This group has loads of potential and I’m excited to see where we can go.”

With his current deal due to expire at the end of this season, Underhill has now signed a two-year extension.

‘World-class’ player

After securing Underhill’s services for another two years, Van Graan said: “Sam is world-class. He is one of the best players in Europe and is an exceptional openside flanker.

“I am very glad he is staying at Bath.”

Underhill follows the likes of Orlando Bailey, Ethan Staddon, Tom de Glanville, Jaco Coetzee, Josh Bayliss, Miles Reid, Louis Schreuder, Sam Harris, Niall Annett, Charlie Ewels, Archie Griffin, Cameron Redpath, Will Muir, and Will Stuart in signing contract extensions with the side.
