‘Even bleeds Orange’ – Saints star George Hendy confirms season over with hospital bed post
George Hendy shares injury update from hospital bed
Posting a photo from his hospital bed earlier today, Northampton Saints star George Hendy has announced on social media that his season has come to an early end.
This update comes after the young star suffered a severe shoulder injury in the opening minutes of Saints’ European quarter final win over Castres.
Taking to Instagram to post the latest on his recovery, the 22-year-old full-back said: “Not the ideal end to my season but can’t wait to watch the boys rip in these next few weeks. Looking forward to getting back out there next season.”
Fan Response
Fans have been disappointed with the news, but wished their star all the best. One fan noted the sheer potential that the young man has, saying: “Ah shame, England should be taking a look if they aren’t already”, while the Saints Supporters Club added: “Best wishes for a speedy recovery and enjoy the summer, look forward to seeing you ripping it up again next season.”
Teammates Fraser Dingwall and Rory Hutchinson joined in on the support, choosing to poke fun at their injured friend, adding: “Even bleeds Orange” and “Fanta” respectively – a playful nod to his Orange hair.
There have also been further messages of support from the likes of Henry Pollock, who said simply: “my guy”.

Player Bio
Hendy is a Northampton Saint through and through. Having join the club at a junior level aged just 13, he eventually progressed through to the Saints Senior Academy in his late teens. A versatile player with a running style similar to many old school wingers, Hendy kicked his senior career into top gear very quickly, scoring four tries in just his first three appearances. Such is his talent and natural potential, many still expect him to step into international colours, particularly after impressing during his time with England under 20s in 2022.
Prior to the injury, Hendy had been in fine form this season, scoring 8 tries in just 15 appearances for the reigning Gallagher Premiership champions. He is expected to make a full recovery for next season.
