Erasmus not getting carried away

Munster haven’t achieved anything yet despite their impressive 38-0 win over Leicester in the Champions Cup, Rassie Erasmus.

The Munster Director of Rugby was pleased with his side’s dominant performance on Saturday, but warned his players that a tough return match awaits them next week.

“It was a good performance but we know that next week will be even harder over there,” Erasmus said.

“There is another eighty minutes to play in this contest next week and we need no reality check about what is coming. The guys can be really proud of that performance – they made the tackles very personal – but we have only played two games and there is still a long way to go and we are not going to be fooled by where we are in the table.”

CJ Stander, who was named Man of the Match, added: “You have to celebrate the small wins but when you wake up in the morning it is back to basics and we ne need to see what we did not get right today and fix that.

“It was a great performance but it is backs to the wheel on Monday and on to next Saturday. We have to go there next weekend – and we were disappointed there last year – so hopefully we can do it again there.

“Fair play to the boys they really pitched up and played the way we wanted to play – particularly with the first time tackles.”
