Erasmus doesn’t want Bok job – report

Date published: February 29 2016

Rassie Erasmus has reportedly withdrawn from the race to take over the vacant Springboks head coaching position.

Erasmus, who currently heads the South African Rugby Union’s Mobi-Unit, was one of the favourites to take over the coaching role after Heyneke Meyer’s resignation following the 2015¬†Rugby World Cup.

But according to Netwerk24, Erasmus informed SA Rugby’s executive committee that he is not interested in the position.

With Erasmus ruling himself out of contention, former Stormers head coach Allister Coetzee appears the favourite for the job.

Coetzee, currently coaching the Kobelco Steelers in Japan, was confirmed to still be in the running when SARU president¬†Oregan Hoskins sent an email to members of the committee, instructing them to add Coetzee’s name to the list of candidates.

Meyer’s successor is expected to be named in April.
