England star Tom Curry makes decision on future as long-term deal confirmed
Tom Curry warming up for Sale Sharks ahead of their 2026/27 PREM Rugby opener
British and Irish Lions and England back-rower Tom Curry has penned a fresh contract extension with Sale Sharks, keeping him in the North West for the foreseeable future.
The 28-year-old forward has spent the entirety of his playing career at the Sharks after progressing through the club’s academy, and has since played over 125 times since his debut in 2016. During that time, he has also become a mainstay in the England side with 71 Test caps to his name, and has also featured on two British and Irish Lions tours.
His new deal will now see him stay at the CorpAcq Stadium until at least 2028, and follows Curry being given an enhanced England Elite Player Squad (EPS) contract back in August.
Tom Curry signs long-term Sale Sharks deal
Commenting on his decision to re-sign with Sale, Curry said: “Sale Sharks means everything to me. This is the club I have supported my whole life.
“From a young age, I can remember going to Edgeley Park, and now to be able to replicate my heroes growing up is something that is hard to put into words.
“To be able to say I can do that with my brother every week and my family up here makes it even more special.
“I’m very proud of the hard work we’ve put in over the last ten years to get the club to where it is now, but I know how much more we have to give and that’s the reason I want to stay. There’s no place I would rather be.”
Also commenting, Sharks director of rugby, Alex Sanderson, added: “Tom has been in some of the best environments in the world with England and the British and Irish Lions, and it was him who said we have to keep this core group of senior players together.

“He’s as fit and as fast as he’s ever been and his capacity to work and impact the game both sides of the ball is incredible.
“He’s fundamental to us in terms of being the cornerstone of that core group and I’m delighted he’s staying because we want him to finish his career at Sale.”
