England head coach Eddie Jones was delighted with Joe Cokanasiga’s performance as he marked his debut with a try against Japan on Saturday.
The Bath wing went over for his side’s third try in the 35-15 victory over the Brave Blossoms, with Jones predicting a bright future for him.
“He will score plenty, he’s a big lad, he has pace and power,” he told England Rugby. “He can find the line, so he will score a few more at Twickenham down that left-hand side.”
England were made to work for the win at Twickenham as Japan took a 15-10 lead into the break, impressing with their all-action style of play, something Jones feels will have benefited his side.
“It was a fantastic experience for us,” he added. “I was really pleased with how well Japan played, they got stuck in. We wanted a game that tested us, we put out a different team, playing different combinations to see how players would combine in different positions.
“The way we responded pleased me. We played like England in the second-half, I can only recall Japan getting in our 22m once in that second period. The stats of the first half were probably reversed.”
“They’ve had a tough year, a bit like us, it’s their last game of the year, as it is ours so we’ll both be looking for a winning performance,” he concluded.
