Eben Etzebeth and Allan Alaalatoa square up in Australia v South Africa clash

Springboks second-row Eben Etzebeth and Wallabies prop Allan Alaalatoa have buried the hatchet after their fracas in a fiery clash in Sydney.

The Australia v South Africa meeting on Saturday was won 24-8 by the Boks as the Rugby Championship table became even more congested after Round Four.

Damian de Allende, Canan Moodie, Franco Mostert and Makazole Mapimpi scored for South Africa while Damian Willemse and Frans Steyn kicked conversions.

Moment everyone is talking about

However, the moment many are talking about after the match was the clash between both sets of players, following wing Mapimpi’s crossing on 72 minutes.

Wallabies and Boks were involved in pushing and shoving before things escalated between Etzebeth and Alaalatoa, with the cameras quickly focussing on it.

The face and wipe open eyes of Etzebeth locked on the Wallaby prop have since been watched thousands of times on social media as the Bok was incensed.

No punches were thrown in the melee but Mapimpi was sent to the sin-bin, this after it was deemed he started the flare-up after antagonising Marika Koroibete.

That seemed to cool tempers and it appears Etzebeth and Alaalatoa have drawn a line in the sand after a video showed them all smiles in the changing room.

The Wallabies social media team has released the footage which shows the front-row handing a peace offering to the Springbok lock as they shared a drink.

The bonus-point victory for the Springboks has moved them up to third on the Rugby Championship table with two rounds to play, with the Wallabies in second.

Argentina, after sitting pretty atop the standings heading into the weekend, are now bottom as New Zealand climb to the summit, one point ahead of everyone.
