Dragons head coach Bernard Jackman has announced that Barry Maddocks has joined his coaching team as skills coach.

Maddocks' appointment confirms the set-up of Jackman’s coaching team for the coming season as he joins the head coach with defence coach Hendre Marnitz, forwards coach Ceri Jones and backs coach Shaun Connor at the Dragons.

Maddocks moves to the Dragons from Premiership side Bath where he was assistant academy manager.

The former Aberavon player has previously coached Wales U16s as well England Sevens, both men and women.

Jackman commented: “Barry has been on my radar for a while as he is an outstanding skills coach.

“He is from Wales but has picked up valuable experience in England through working at both Hartbury and Bath.”

Jackman continued: “We need to make sure that all of our players, both young and old, have access to someone of his expertise to help them develop the all-around skill set that is required to play elite rugby.”
