Davies injury concern for Wales

Wales head coach Warren Gatland has his first injury concern ahead of their clash with England as centre Jonathan Davies is nursing a thigh problem.

The British and Irish Lions star has been left out of club side Clermont’s matchday squad for their Top 14 away fixture at La Rochelle on Saturday.

Davies, 26, was expected to line up alongside Jamie Roberts in the Welsh midfield for next Friday’s Six Nations opener, but that is now in doubt.

“Jonathan has a minor tight glute which no one wanted to risk,” a Wales spokesman told BBC Sport.

“It’s nothing serious and we have had continuous dialogue with Clermont.”
