‘Cuthbert his own worst enemy’ – Williams

Wales legend JJ Williams thinks that out-of-form wing Alex Cuthbert should return to Cardiff Blues and start enjoying playing rugby again.

Cuthbert has had a forgetful November series so far and made a handful of errors against Japan last week which puts his place in doubt.

Williams believes the best thing for the wing now is to play rugby with a smile again at the Blues after Wales have finished their Tests.

“He needs to go back to Cardiff, score a few tries and enjoy his rugby a bit more,” he told BBC Wales Sport ahead of Saturday’s clash with South Africa.

“He’s his own worst enemy isn’t he? Every time he makes a mistake his head is down, he’s throwing tantrums, banging the floor.”

He added: “He won’t be in the team this weekend, I can’t see it, but he needs to go back to Cardiff and not do the same things. Just get on with it.

“He is a very good player. He’s a British Lions Test try scorer so he’s got it, but we’re not seeing it from him.”
