Back in Super Rugby with the Blues, veteran scrum-half Jimmy Cowan is enjoying the ‘tough yakka’ of pre-season.
Cowan has returned to New Zealand after a stint with Gloucester and was part of Tasman’s run to the ITM Cup Final earlier this year.
The World Cup winner hasn’t played any Super Rugby since 2012 with the Highlanders and admits that he isn’t getting any younger.
“I’m enjoying it. It’s always tough yakka at this time of year but it’s very rewarding at the same time. I’m enjoying putting the work in, building the camaraderie,” Cowan told TVNZ.
“Rugby’s an evolving game, who would of thought I would of played for Tasman and up to the Blues but that’s the beauty about rugby these days, there’s a lot of opportunities.
“I can’t wait for the season to kick-off.
“I’m coming to the end of my career so a big part of me wants to enjoy the campaign and enjoy what I’m doing.”
