Cardiff Blues have announced that Macauley Cook is the latest player to pledge his future to the region with a long-term deal extension.

The versatile forward has established himself as an invaluable member of the Blues squad, making 137 appearances since his debut in 2010.

He had no hesitation in putting pen to paper once again and is determined to kick on with his home region.

Cook said: "I have come through the system here, I've always played for the region and I love pulling on the Cardiff Blues jersey each weekend, especially in front of our home fans.

"Now I'm just excited about what the future holds, I feel like I have unfinished business here.

"There's definitely a feeling that we're heading in the right direction and building something. There are some great young players coming through and they are really adding to the more established guys.

"I've been here so long, played 137 games for the region and I'm really looking forward to seeing and contributing to what we can do in the next few years."

He added: "I love this region, they are the ones who gave me the opportunity and each week I play with my best mates.

"You can go elsewhere to win trophies but we have come through together at Cardiff Blues and I would love to win something here with my mates. We're definitely heading in the right direction and can start to compete."
