Clermont’s rising star at scrum-half Charlie Cassang has signed his professional contract, tying him to the club until 2020.

Cassang has made a number of appearances so far this despite competition at scrum-half for les Jaunards from Morgan Parra and Ludo Radosavljevic.

The 21-year-old previously spent time on loan at Bayonne and Franck Azéma spoke highly when it came to reviewing Cassang’s start to the season.

“Charlie was able to meet our expectations at the start of the season,” said Azéma.

“His extension is a sign of his progress, which he has continued to do by adopting a serious and professional attitude. He is a very promising young player who has very experienced scrum-halves around him to inspire him and to help give him a good start in his young career.

“He has found a place in the squad and has the temperament and talent to play an increasingly important role in the years to come.”
