Clerc ruled out for months

Vincent Clerc has suffered a fresh injury blow after Toulon announced the winger underwent surgery after suffering a raptured left Achilles tendon.

Clerc picked up the injury while playing for Toulon in last weekend’s 30-6 defeat to Clermont. The setback comes shortly after he underwent surgery to repair his right Achilles tendon.

“Vincent Clerc is seriously injured,” Toulon said in a statement. He is expected to be sidelined for 4-5 months.

Clerc’s father-in-law, who is also the France coach, said: “On a sports level it’s a drama for him,” said Noves. “He returns and re-injures himself again. It’s true that it’s very complicated (but) he’ll bounce back, he has to be given time.”
