England international Joe Cokanasiga has signed a new three-year deal with Bath on the back of some strong form in the Premiership this season.

The powerful runner has been a revelation for Johann van Graan, who rates the wing very highly having sung his praises more than once this season.

Try-scoring form

Cokanasiga is one of the club’s top scorers in the Premiership with six this season, including two in his last outing against Sale Sharks.

The wing has put himself back into the England selection picture after having been omitted for the Rugby World Cup and Six Nations squads since Steve Borthwick took over the head coach role.

Nonetheless, the 26-year-old has loved his time at Bath since joining in 2018 and is excited about the future of the club that is tracking well in the Premiership this season.

“I love playing for Bath. Seeing the journey we’ve been on this year compared to last is special,” he told the club’s website.

“Bath has seen me grow both personally and professionally and I’m very excited for what the future holds for us as a group.”

“Brilliant human”

Bath’s head of rugby Van Graan spoke highly of Cokanasiga, not only complementing his playing ability but his character as well.

“Joe has been class since I arrived at the club. He brings power, he brings speed and he brings tries,” he said.

“He’s a brilliant human being and he fits into our club so well.”

Cokanasiga joins a growing list of players to have re-signed for the club with Josh Bayliss, Jaco Coetzee, Tom de Glanville, Orlando Bailey and Sam Underhill all putting pen to paper recently.

Bath turn their attention to the Champions Cup round-of-16 this weekend as the side travels to Exeter Chiefs for an all-Premiership battle.
