Chiefs centre Charlie Ngatai has re-signed with the back-to-back champions for the next two years in Super Rugby.

The former national age grade sprint champion has played 19 matches for the Chiefs, proving to be quick and versatile, with the ability to play anywhere in the backline.

Chiefs coach Dave Rennie is happy to have the talented distributor in his camp.

“Charlie is an impressive young man who's become an integral part of our squad,” said Rennie.

“He's smart and has an excellent skill set, which enables him to play multiple positions. We are rapt he's signed on.”

The 23-year-old, who has recently signed with Taranaki Provincial Union, said he jumped at the chance to stay in Chiefs country.

“This is a great team to play in with great people and a top environment. My rugby has progressed well under the Chiefs, which is why I wanted to stay,” said Ngatai.

Ngatai is a Maori All Black, former New Zealand U20's and New Zealand School representative who has also played for the Hurricanes and Wellington in the ITM Cup.
