Cane injury to open door for Savea

All Blacks flanker Sam Cane has been ruled for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury after the win over Argentina.

"He's in a bit of pain so it's not a good sign with a hammy," All Blacks head coach Steve Hansen told Stuff.

Cane limped off not long after half-time having pulled his hamstring at a ruck, and he was replaced by Ardie Savea who now appears set to take Cane's place next week against South Africa.

Hansen added to the media that he expects Cane to be absent for between four to six weeks, meaning he could miss the rest of the Rugby Championship.

Savea is yet to make a first start for New Zealand, having won all of his five caps so far from the bench since making his debut against Wales in June.
