Canada sit top of Americas Rugby Championship

Canada opened their Americas Rugby Championship campaign with a 33-17 win over Uruguay that leaves them top of the table after round one.

Chile's narrow victory against Brazil puts them in second place, while Argentina XV and USA are third-equal ahead of Brazil and Uruguay.

Canada 33-17 Uruguay

Debutant Dan Moor crossed twice while Phil Mackenzie, Nick Blevins and Alistair Clark also scored for Canada in front of 1,123 supporters.

A penalty try to go with Alejandro Nieto and Leandro Leivas' efforts was the South American side's response as they fell short of the Canadians.

Chile 25-22 Brazil

In warm conditions at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento de Rugby, at the foothills of the Andes, Chile picked up a 25-22 victory over Brazil.

Ítalo Zunino, Francisco de la Fuente and José Larenas claimed tries while Daniel Sancery, Felipe Sancery and Lucas Tranquez scored for Brazil.

USA 35-35 Argentina XV

70 points were amassed in front of 10,200 fans at the BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston as the Eagles and an Argentina XV tied 35-35.

Takudzwa Ngwenya, Todd Clever, Cameron Dolan and Eric Fry crossed for the hosts who had started well but then Argentina recovered with scores from Tomás Carrió (2), Rodrigo Báez, Juan Cappiello and Gonzalo Bertranou seeing them pick up three points from their opening game.
