Bonus-point win for Canterbury

Canterbury made it three successive bonus-point wins in the Mitre 10 Cup as they beat Northland 52-34 in Whangarei on Saturday.

It was another high-class performance from Scott Robertson's men as they scored eight tries at Toll Stadium to Northland's four efforts.

They shot out the blocks with two tries in four minutes as Marshall Suckling and George Bridge scored before Johnny McNicholl went over.

At half-time it was 32-13 to Canterbury as Suckling and Bridge added another try apiece while Josh Goodhue hit back for the home side.

The scoring didn't let up after the break too as after centre Jack Goodhue scored for Canterbury, his brother responded for the Taniwha.

But Canterbury were rarely in danger of losing as further tries from Matt Todd and Jordie Barrett sealed another maximum on the board.

For Northland it was a special day for second-row Goodhue, who scored a hat-trick, while Howard Sililoto added their fourth try of the game.
