Antoine Dupont is already one of the most decorated French players at the age of 27.

France captain Antoine Dupont has added to his ridiculous trophy haul, taking his personal tally to 30.

The scrum-half is widely regarded as the best player in the game, and to date, he has certainly lived up to the hype.

At the age of 27, Dupont has collectively racked up 30 awards from his performances for club and country.

Planet Rugby runs through those awards year by year.

2017

In 2016, Toulouse loosened the purse strings to lure one of the most promising talents in French rugby away from their rivals, Castres.

Playing in his final season for Castres, Dupont enjoyed a stellar run of form, notching up 35 appearances across the season, and the then 21-year-old picked up his first individual honour as he was named the Breakthrough Player of the Season at the Nuit du Rugby Awards evening.

2018

A cruciate ligament rupture in his first season at Toulouse limited his game time for club and country, having made his Test debut in November 2017. This meant that he did not pick up any awards, while his club also failed to win any silverware.

2019

Having fully recovered from his injury from the season before, Dupont inspired Toulouse to their first Top 14 title in seven years and his first as a professional. His performances throughout the season also saw him pick up the coveted Midi Olympique Golden Award for the first time.

2020

Now a regular standout performer for France after making his World Cup debut in 2019, Dupont hit the ground sprinting in 2020. While Les Bleus finished as runners-up in the Six Nations, the brilliant scrum-half lit up the tournament and was crowned the Player of the Championship. He would again pick up the Midi Olympique Golden Award, becoming just the third player after Serge Blanco and Juan Martín Hernandez to claim back-to-back awards.

2021

Dupont enjoyed his most-trophy-laden season to date in 2021 as Toulouse completed the Top 14-Champions Cup double. His performances led to him being voted the best Top 14 player by his peers, and he was also named the best international of the season at the Nuit du Rugby Awards evening.

Midi Olympique also honoured him with a third Golden Award and his first World Oscar, the French publication’s pick for the best player in the world.

His stellar year was rounded off as he collected the EPCR European Player of the Year award and was named the World Rugby Player of the Year as well.

2022

Toulouse were unable to defend either of their titles in 2022 but Dupont enjoyed success with the national side, captaining them to their first Six Nations Grand Slam and title in 12 years.

Again, he was named the Six Nations Player of the Championship, becoming only the third player – after Brian O’Driscoll and Stuart Hogg – to claim the award more than once.

He was again crowned the best international of the season at the Nuit du Rugby Awards evening and also won the Midi Olympique Golden Award for the fourth time and his second World Oscar. Dupont was nominated for a second World Rugby Men’s XV award but was beaten to the honour by Ireland’s Josh van der Flier.

2023

While France finished runners-up to Ireland again in the Six Nations, Dupont was still named the Six Nations Player of the Championship – the third time he had won the award.

However, Toulouse did claim another title in 2023, winning the Top 14 for the third time since Dupont arrived.

Despite Toulouse’s Top 14 success, Dupont was not amongst Midi Olympique’s three finalists for the Golden Award, but he did win the World Oscar for the third time in succession.

He would then go on to lead France at their home Rugby World Cup, where they were ultimately knocked out in the quarter-finals by eventual champions South Africa.

In November 2023, he was crowned the Top 14 Player of the Season – for a second time – and the International Player of the Season for the third time at the Nuit du Rugby Awards evening.

2024

The year after the World Cup in France has been a unique one in Dupont’s career as he juggled his dream of winning Olympic gold in Paris with the sevens side while also switching back and forth with the Toulouse squad.

His debut season in sevens was highly anticipated with everyone fascinated to see how he would go in the shorter, faster format and as expected he hit the ground running, incredibly inspiring France to their first title on the series in nearly 20 years. To make it even more impressive he was at the centre of that win and emerged immediately as one of the best sevens players around.

After switching between the two he guided Toulouse to the Champions Cup final where they beat Leinster in extra-time with Dupont claiming the man-of-the-match award. The performance was so good that it sparked a serious debate about whether or not he could be considered the Greatest of All Time (G.O.A.T).

He would not sit around to celebrate and instead linked up with the France sevens squad for the final event of the series before the Olympics the very next week. Dupont would shine in the tournament with a stunning solo try and try assist to crucially power Les Bleus deep into the Madrid event, which they would go on to win. The awards would not stop there, as he was named Rookie of the Season despite only playing in three of eight events, two of which he won with France.

To cap off another memorable season with Toulouse, Dupont produced a man-of-the-match performance in the Top 14 final, steering his charges to a 59-3 to hoist the Bouclier de Brennus for the fourth time in his career.

In September, Dupont was once again honoured at the 20th Nuit du Rugby Awards evening as he was named the Best Top 14 player and the Best French international player of the 2023/24 season. It was the scrum-half’s third time claiming the Top 14 award and the fourth time he claimed the Best French international award in his career.

He was also awarded the Legion of Honour – France’s highest award.
