Ankle surgery for Kruis

England and Saracens lock George Kruis has undergone minor surgery on his ankle and is expected to return to action in a number of weeks.

His club side confirmed the operation on Friday, ahead of their Champions Cup game against the Scarlets at Allianz Park, as hard-working forward Kruis’ participation in the November Tests for his country is now thrown into doubt.

“After consultation with George and England we’re in all in agreement that it’s in the best interest of the player to undergo this minor procedure now with the majority of the season still ahead of us,” said Saracens boss Mark McCall.

“George is on the road to recovery and we look forward to his return to action sooner rather than later.”
