All Blacks: Mind-blowing Richie McCaw statistic makes a mockery of Wales’ winless run

Another woeful stat from Wales’ run of defeats has been posted following their Six Nations defeat to Ireland over the weekend.
Warren Gatland left his role as head coach following the loss to Italy in round two of the tournament, with Matt Sherratt taking over in the interim.
While Wales produced a far better performance in the Triple Crown decider against Ireland, they still fell short and have now lost a record 15 straight Test matches.
That is remarkably the same number of times that former All Blacks captain Richie McCaw tasted defeat in his entire international career.
McCaw’s record v Wales’ run
McCaw is widely regarded as one of the greatest players to ever grace a rugby pitch and his statistics only add substance to that tag.
Between 2001 and 2015, he played a remarkable 148 Test matches for his country, scoring 27 tries and winning two Rugby World Cups.
For his efforts, he was also crowned the World Rugby Player of the Year on three occasions and captained his country a record 110 times, winning 97 of those matches.
McCaw was a crucial cog in the All Blacks team and retired not only as the most capped player of all-time but with a mind-boggling win rate having been on the victorious team 131 times in his 148 Tests, losing just 15 times and drawing twice.

South Africa and Australia both beat the All Blacks on six occasions when the All Blacks legend was playing while England did so twice and France infamously knocked the McCaw-led New Zealand out of the 2007 Rugby World Cup.
In their last 15 Tests, Wales have now lost the same amount of games as Richie McCaw did across his entire 15 year 148 Test match career.

The two draws that McCaw featured in were both against the Wallabies.
Woeful Wales
Meanwhile, Wales’ run of 15 successive defeats stretches back to the 2023 Rugby World Cup with their last victory being the 43-19 success over Georgia.
Gatland would then oversee defeats to Argentina, Scotland, England, France, Italy, South Africa, Australia (all twice), Ireland and Fiji before stepping down from his role.
The latest setback means that Wales have gone more than 500 days without tasting victory in a Test match and have fallen to an all-time World Rugby rankings low of 12th.
Their 15-game winless streak is their worst such run in international rugby while they also set a new unwanted record of nine straight defeats in the Six Nations with their loss to Ireland and look on course for back-to-back Wooden Spoon finishes which would be a first for the side since Italy joined the tournament.
