2024 World Rugby Awards: Star-studded voting panels, criteria and date confirmed for the prestigious event

World Rugby have confirmed that the 2024 World Rugby Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, November 24.
The governing body has also revealed the 14 award categories that will presented on the night, celebrating the sport’s most outstanding personalities, as well as the voting panels that will decide the nominees and winners.
The iconic Salle des Étoiles will host the event in Monaco.
2024 World Rugby Awards
Hosted under the High Patronage of H.S.H Princess Charlene of Monaco, the star-studded evening coincides with the end of the international rugby season.
This year’s edition also marks the fourth occasion that Monaco has hosted the World Rugby Awards, cementing the Principality’s place as the home of rugby’s greatest honours.
In total, 14 award categories will be presented on the night, recognising on-field achievements of the calendar year.
The nominees in each category are voted by specialist panels which feature rugby legends and World Rugby Hall of Fame inductees.

World Rugby Men’s 15s Breakthrough Player of the Year
Criteria: Open to all men’s 15s players who have played no more than one year of international rugby. Voting is assessed on international test match performances. Club rugby is not recognised.

International Rugby Players Special Merit Award
Criteria: The IRP Special Merit Award is presented to a player by fellow players in recognition of outstanding contribution to the professional game on and off the field. The International Rugby Players select the recipient of this award.
World Rugby Coach of the Year
Criteria: Open to all international men’s and women’s, sevens and 15s coaches.

World Rugby Referee Award
Voting panel: Fifteens referee selection panel and Sevens referee selection panel.
Criteria: The Referee Award recognises retired referees who have given a lot to the game of rugby both on and off the field.
