Geordan Murphy has been given the all clear to start Ireland's Six Nations clash with England on Saturday.
Murphy's participation at Twickenham hinged on a fitness test after the Leicester full-back missed the 16-12 defeat by Wales with an Achilles injury.
But he emerged from training this morning unscathed and was subsequently given the green light to face the World Cup finalists.
Ireland confirmed the news in a brief statement released on Thursday.
“Ireland full-back Geordan Murphy underwent a fitness test on his Achilles injury today during the Ireland training session in UCD,” it read.
“He came through the test and has been passed fit to take his place in the team to play England on Saturday.”
Murphy was named man of the match in the 34-13 victory over Scotland only to miss out against Wales with the injury sustained on club duty.
The 29-year-old has endured a mixed Test career in which he has spent most of his 55 caps on the wing.
But he has been restored to full-back with Girvan Dempsey missing because of a hip problem and usually thrives in his preferred position.
