Munster: Ireland international Gavin Coombes inks new deal at United Rugby Championship side

Munster have announced that impressive number eight Gavin Coombes has put pen to paper on a new two-year contract with the province.

The deal keeps the ever-improving Coombes at the United Rugby Championship outfit until at least 2025.

Coombes, 24, became the youngest ever Player of the Year at Munster last term and this extension is clearly a reward for the progress he has made.

Set to reach 50 Munster appearances

He has crossed for 21 tries in 49 Munster matches and is poised to make it a half century when he runs out against Irish rivals Leinster this weekend.

Coombes was rewarded for his Munster form with two games for Ireland, against Japan and USA, in 2021 and will look to add more caps in the future.

Unfortunately he did not feature in an Ireland matchday 23 during the 2022 Six Nations Championship but shone on his return for Munster last week.
