Mike Brown’s Harlequins career over after ban is upheld

Harlequins fullback Mike Brown’s six-week suspension has been upheld after his appeal hearing failed on Wednesday night.

Brown was sent off for standing on the head of Wasps hooker Tommy Taylor at Twickenham Stoop on May 9, resulting in a suspension that rules him out of the rest of Quins’ season.

Attempt to have sanction reduced dismissed

An independent disciplinary panel dismissed his attempt to have the sanction reduced, meaning the Newcastle-bound full-back has played his last game for the club he first represented in 2005.

A Harlequins statement said: “The club will continue to work with and support Mike throughout the remainder of his time as a Harlequin before he leaves this summer to join Newcastle Falcons.”
