Sale Sharks have announced the signing of Cardiff Blues utility back Nick McLeod on a two-year deal.

McLeod, who has struggled for game time at the Arms Park over the last few seasons, will join Sale at the end of the current season and joins fellow Cardiff-born player Lee Thomas at Edgeley Park.

Having come through the ranks at Cardiff, as well as representing Wales U21, McLeod is ready for a fresh challenge, and feels a move to Sale will help test him.

“I am really looking forward to joining Sale Sharks,” said the 25-year-old.

“I went to school with Lee Thomas and played alongside him at Cardiff Blues. Both Lee and Ben Evans have told me a lot about the Sharks and they helped me make my mind up to move North.

“I am hoping to make the trip up to Stockport in the coming weeks to meet up with the coaches and players.”

Sale's Head Coach, Kingsley Jones, has been watching McLeod for some time now and was only too happy to secure his signature this week.

“I have known Nick for a few years and he has decided to join us as he wants to play regular rugby at the highest level,” said Jones.

“He can play either full-back or fly-half and is a very competent goal kicker. Nick will I am sure be a great addition to our squad.”
