McCall praises ‘confident’ Saracens

Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall applauded his side's decision making after they beat Leicester 29-17 at Welford Road on Sunday.

He labelled their performance a ‘confident display’ as a try from Jamie George and 19 points from the boot of Owen Farrell saw them win.

The result lifts them up to second place in the Premiership standings and McCall praised his players after the game for how they stood up.

“I thought it was a confident display, we played well with and without the ball; the difference today without the ball was just how good our decision making was around the breakdown, our penalty count was low and it was a very controlled performance in attack and defence," he told Saracens' website.

“We were a bit frustrated that we left some tries out there, I felt that we were down their end quite a bit and had some opportunities that we didn’t take but all things considered it was a very pleasing performance.

“We didn’t think there was that much wrong before, you can always get better and we can get better from what happened today.”

He added: “Jackson (Wray) has been one of our most consistent performers for ages and I thought he was exceptional in how he carried the ball.

“A lot of people played really well today, Ben Spencer was great, Marcelo Bosch at inside centre played well against Manu Tuilagi and Matt Toomua, across the board it was a very confident and controlled performance which is very pleasing.”
