McCall – ‘Good start important’
Saracens coach Mark McCall has called on his side to make a good start in their European Champions Cup final against Clermont on Saturday.
McCall is wary of Clermont's ability to be the quickest out of the starting blocks and has urged his side to concentrate right from the get-go.
The Sarries boss also believes that Clermont are a superior side to the Racing 92 side his team beat in last year's European Champions Cup final.
"All season Clermont have started game so well and have been 15 or 20 points up on sides that has forced teams to chase them," McCall told EPC Rugby.
"And I think they are significantly better that Racing 92 were last year – although Racing did incredibly well to reach the Champions Cup final and then go on to win the Top 14.
"But as coaches analysing Clermont it just seems that they have something more about them and their team spirit is fantastic.
"We have just got to do what we got to do. It is hard to predict what happens on the day so having Nigel Owens as referee is a factor as he always allows a contest for the ball and that can slow things down.
"But we can play, as we showed when we beat Toulon out there in Round 1."
