Malcolm Marx hails Agustin Creevy as a ‘great’

Springbok hooker Malcolm Marx has hailed opposite number and Argentina captain Agustin Creevy as a ‘great’ rugby player ahead of Saturday’s second Test.

The Springboks won the first Test 34-21 in Durban last weekend and now travel to Mendoza looking for two from two in Rugby Championship 2018 so far.

Creevy is vastly experienced in comparison to Marx, having won 75 caps to the Lions hooker’s 15. And Marx, who is rated as one of the best front-rowers in the world, has paid tribute to the 33-year-old talisman.

“He’s a great rugby player and a good man off the field as well,” Marx told Sport24 of Creevy.

“He’s big at the breakdown and a smart player who knows the ins and outs, the little tricks.

“Whenever we come here it’s a tough game…they just step it up in front of their home crowd.

“I think here it’s a bit more emotional than it is in any other country, but we’re focusing on ourselves and where we can be better this weekend.”
