Clermont's loss to Saracens in the Champions Cup Final came at a cost when lock Sébastien Vahaamahina fractured his tibia at Murrayfield on Saturday.

The France international was forced off the field with the injury in the 45th minute of the encounter which Saracens won 28-17 and he will sidelined for a lengthy period.

Clermont's official website issued a press statement which said: "Sébastien Vahaamahina limped off and the first diagnosis of the medical staff gave little hope.

"The medical examinations confirmed a fracture of the lower part of the tibia which will put to an absence of several months.

"This is a blow for les Jaunards and France as his season is over."
