Jones backs Solomona to be fit for Argentina tour

England boss Eddie Jones is confident that Sale Sharks wing Denny Solomona will be declared fit for their upcoming tour to Argentina.
Solomona sustained a foot injury during an England training session last week and was initially doubtful for the tour.
Harlequins’ Marland Yarde has been called up as cover but Jones is backing Solomona to make a full recovery and to be part of the squad when they head out to Argentina on Saturday.
“He has been progressing well,” Jones told Sky Sports.
“He trained well on Tuesday and Wednesday. He pulled up well today (Thursday) and we expect him to train tomorrow.
“So we expect him to be on the plane.”
England will take on los Pumas in San Juan on June 10 and in Santa Fe on June 17.
Jones believes Solomona will make a full recovery and said the 23-year-old former Samoa rugby league international could make his international rugby union debut in the first Test.
“He will be in contention for selection, yeah,” he added.
“He has done everything right.
“He has adapted well to the team. He is a good guy off the field – very jovial, mixes in well, leading the cards in the team room – so we have been really pleased with his progress.
“We’d love to have a look at him but he has got to get in the team. He has got great competition with Nathan Earle, Jonny May and potentially Marland [Yarde], so he has got his work cut out.”
