Jaguares centre Jerónimo de la Fuente has become the latest player to confirm he is departing the club, with a move to Perpignan his next destination.

The 29-year-old, who progressed through age grade rugby in Argentina, has represented his country 54 times and is the current captain of his club side.

Perpignan and Jaguares both confirmed the news on Sunday and De La Fuente will head to the Pro D2 club when his contract finishes at the end of 2020.

The centre follows the likes of Marcos Kremer (Stade Français) and Guido Petti (Bordeaux-Begles) in taking the club’s advice to look abroad for contracts.

The Argentine Rugby Union’s advice to players came as Super Rugby’s immediate future remains unclear, especially for teams representing one nation.

On his decision to part ways with the Jaguares for France’s second tier, the experienced De la Fuente told the club’s official website: “The first thing I want to say is that I am eternally grateful for everything I have experienced in these last 10 years.

“I want to thank the Argentine Rugby Union for this decade spent in the system and where I was able to develop my career as a professional. Without a doubt, full of learning, with indelible experiences and where I was also able to grow as a person.”
