Injuries hit Connacht

Connacht have suffered several blows on the injury front including wing Matt Healy being ruled out for up to six weeks with a hand injury.

Healy injured his hand in training last week and will be sorely missed by the Irish outfit ahead of the business end of the PRO12 season.

Meanwhile, after initially being ruled out for eight to ten weeks, lock Ultan Dillane has now been sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.

Connacht added on an injury update that Conor Carey is continuing his recovery from his foot injury and will return to play by mid to late April, Nepia Fox-Matamua sustained an ACL injury in the game against Treviso and will undergo surgery next week, while Peter Robb sustained a hip injury in a club game and will be unavailable for up to four weeks. Meanwhile Cian Kelleher is set to make his return in early May.

In a boost Ireland squad members Kieran Marmion, Tiernan O’Halloran and Quinn Roux have returned and are available for this weekend.

But Marnitz Boshoff has returned to South Africa following the sudden passing of his father.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Marnitz and his family at this difficult time,” Connacht said.
