London Irish have announced that former England fly-half Charlie Hodgson has joined the club as kicking coach.

The 36-year-old, who played in 38 Tests for his country, is not the only new face in the Exiles' backroom staff after Matthew Ferguson and Mike Roberts were appointed as scrum coach and  psychologist respectively.

The trio will work alongside London Irish's director of rugby Nick Kennedy, technical director Brendan Venter, forwards coach George Skivington, defence coach Declan Danaher and attack coach Paul Hodgson.

Hodgson made more than 250 senior appearances for Sale Sharks and Saracens during a 16-year spell as a player. He retired in May 2016 after scoring 2,623 points in his Premiership career.

Newly promoted London Irish kick off their Premiership campaign against Harlequins at Twickenham in the London Double Header on Saturday, 2 September.
