Mike Brown turns to coaching during suspension

Mike Brown has been distracting himself from his bid to spare his Harlequins career an inglorious end by providing coaching assistance for the club’s play-off drive.
Brown will learn on Wednesday night whether the six-match ban for stamping on the head of Wasps hooker Tommy Taylor is to be reduced, thereby enabling him to take part in the Premiership semi-finals.
If the suspension stands, the May 9 showdown will have been his last outing for the team he has represented since 2005, with England’s most capped full-back joining Newcastle at the end of the season.
Harlequins attack coach Nick Evans said: “Mike took a bit of time off. He had a couple of days to process everything.
“He’s training with us and we’ve given him a bit of responsibility with the back three – high ball work which he’s world class at.

“It’s good to have him in and around the group because he’s got a wealth of experience.
“Having Mike around to help the younger guys in these money months is crucial for us.
“It’s really unfortunate that it’s turned out in this way. The best respect and the best thing we can do for him is to do the best we can.”
Brown’s stamp was considered accidental rather than reckless by the original disciplinary hearing, but the offence was deemed high end in severity because it involved the head.
A ban of 12 weeks was reduced to six because of his unblemished disciplinary record.
