Gloucester respond to Fearns speculation

Gloucester responded to a story in the French press alleging that Carl Fearns will not be joining the club ahead of the 2017/2018 season.

Fearns signed a long-term contract with Gloucester and is a key part of the club’s plans moving forward according to the club’s website.

Gloucester were contacted by Lyon recently to ask whether they would consider releasing Fearns from the contract that he signed back in November, an approach which Gloucester turned down. Having secured Fearns’s signature on a long-term contract.

As the first of the club’s external signings announced for next season, Fearns will be a key player in Gloucester colours. His superb form for Lyon this season has understandably caught the eye of many observers.

However, Fearns has committed his long-term future to Gloucester from next season, and any stories suggesting otherwise are both unfounded and unwelcome according to the Gloucester website.
