Georgia captain Gorgodze to retire from Tests

Georgia great and captain Mamuka Gorgodze has announced his retirement from international rugby after a 14-year career with the Lelos.
Gorgodze has won 71 Test caps since making his debut back in 2003 against Spain.
Georgia’s talisman during the most recent Rugby World Cup in 2015, the 32-year-old paid tribute to Georgia’s supporters in a statement when the new was announced on Thursday.
“We have the best fans in the world and I want to thank all of them for the love and support they shared during me career. Many countries cannot boast such huge rugby fans as we have,” he said.
“I have one wish – to see Georgia as a member of the Six Nations and to reach the knockout stages of the Rugby World Cup. I believe our future generation will be able to.”
Gorgodze, who plays for Toulon in France, featured in three Rugby World Cup and scored 26 international tries for Georgia.
Renowned as one of the most physically imposing players in the sport since the Millennium, his efforts for his country will be fondly remembered for many years to come.
