Forrest calls for Clyne’s head

Billionaire Andrew Forrest has rejected the ARU's statement that his $50 million offer of financial support to save the Force's Super Rugby future came too late.

Outgoing ARU CEO Bill Pulver said on Tuesday that the timing of Forrest's offer of financial help to the ARU to save the Western Force's Super Rugby future was wrong.

However, Forrest has accused the ARU of dishonesty and believes their excuse is just one big 'charade' while he has called for ARU chairman Cameron Clyne to step down.

“It is not too late … I know what 11th hour looks like and I certainly know what bullies look like,” Forrest told the Canberra Times.

“I’m saying this is not too late. This wonderful team behind me, the supporters in this state and everyone who believes in a fair go in Australia says it’s not too late.”

Rugby Western Australia have appealed the decision at the Supreme Court of New South Wales, which is expected to hand down a ruling next week.

Forrest has revealed he had seen documents as early as February proposing the Force be axed as doing so posed no legal risk. 

“Had I known that the injustice of the decision to cut the Western Force was made in February, then I would have stepped in then,” Forrest said.
